Who we are
Do you believe in the God of the Bible? According to a recent study, seventy-five percent of students between the ages of thirteen and seventeen believe in God and think positively about religion. However, when you start to ask those teens about their faith and what that faith means you find a different story. Our society has produced a mechanism that allows people their belief in God without requiring any sacrifice, commitment, or service to maintain that relationship. To those Christians, God has become a "cosmic lifeguard or heavenly psychologist" available when we need him but gone when we don't.
That definition of God is wrong.
That definition of God is short-sighted and selfish. However, that definition of God is the standard definition for far too many people today. The goal of the Henderson Youth Group is to take the true definition of God found in the Bible and expose it to our teens. Our goal will hopefully illuminate the need for belief in God. Our goal will hopefully illustrate a deficiency in the postmodern goals of our society. Our goal will hopefully bring about genuine knowledge and wisdom about God's Word.
Our goal is to produce committed, genuine disciples of Christ, students who have faith in God due to a personal relationship.
